The Juventus star, Cristiano Rolando is at the verge of losing his £1bn deal with Nike after been accused by Kathryn Mayorg for rape.
Ronaldo who lost the FIFA Player of the Year award to Luka Modric few weeks ago has been the face of Nike since 2003 when the player was still in Manchester United.
The Portuguese player has worn over 70 different products of Nike since he signed the deal.
Nike while expressing concern over the allegations against the player and doing business with him, said:”We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Kathryn Mayorg has accused Cristiano Rolando of rape after she denied the sport star sex in an hotel room in Las Vegas after they had a party.
In a suit filed by Kathryn Mayorg, she said that she met Ronaldo on June 13,2009 after she was invited to his penthouse suite along with her friends.
She further hinted that after the party, Ronaldo asked her for sex in a room they both shared. She refused, but Ronaldo had to rape her as she screamed “No,no, no.”
She also accused Ronaldo and his team for emotionally exploiting her. The lawsuit further stated that “The psychological trauma of the sexual assault, the fear of public humiliation and retaliation and the reiteration of those fears by law enforcement and medical providers left plaintiff terrified and unable to act or advocate for herself.”
Cristiano Rolando however denied the allegation and called it “Fake news”. He also described the accusations as a ploy by Kathryn Mayorg to seek attention to herself.
The player tweeted, ”I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.
Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.”
Ronaldo’s team,Juventus also tweeted that the allegations against the star won’t affect their contract with him.
The events allegedly dating back to almost 10 years ago do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into contact with this great champion. 2/2
